Effingham country school district is led by a superintendent of schools and governed by a five-member board of education.

Effingham County Schools consist of the following; eight elementary, three middle, and two high schools. The school also has a separate college and career academy. Each of the Effingham County School districts embraces a number of programs that provide rigorous and relevant instruction to each student.

The student body contains diverse races, which can be justified as a result of a large number of students in Effingham County Schools. The diverse race is; 71% White, 7.7% Black, 15.5% Asian, 4.9% Hispanic/Latino, 0.1% American Indian or Alaska Native, and 71% Native Hawaiian or other Pacific Islander.   

Also, 48% of students in Effingham Country Schools are female while  52% of the students are male. At  Effingham County Schools, 38.9% of students are qualified to participate in the federal free and reduced-price meal program.

Moreover,  2.4% of Effingham school students are English language learners. At Effingham County Schools, 99.3% of teachers are licensed while 96.1% of them have three or more years of experience.

Effingham Elementary Schools

Effingham Elementary School is a public school located in Effingham, New Hampshire, which is in a distant rural setting. The student population of Effingham Elementary School is 114, and the school serves K-6.

The student-teacher ratio is 11:1, which is the same as that of the district. The student population is made up of 50% female students and 50% male students.

Effingham Middle Schools

Effingham Middle School is a public school located in Guyton Georgia, which is in a fringe rural setting. The student population of Effingham County Middle School is 982 and the school serves grades 6-8.

The student population of Effingham Middle School is made up of; 47% female students and 53% male students. The school enrolls 53% economically disadvantaged students, there are 69 equivalent full-time teachers and 2 full-time school counselors.

The school’s minority student enrollment is 36% and the student-teacher ratio is 14:1, which is better than that of the district.

Effingham High Schools

Effingham County High School is one of two public high schools located in Effingham County, Georgia, northwest of Savannah. The school was created in 1956 and serves approximately 2000 students in grades 9-12 in the Effingham County School District.

The school mascot is the Rebel, and the school colours are red, navy, and white. However, Effingham High School is the only high school in the Effingham Community Unified School District 40.

Students at Effingham High School have the opportunity to take part in 23 different dual credit courses, produce award winning theatre shows, earn athletic scholarships to major universities and are awarded over 1 million dollars in academic scholarships annually.

Effingham High School is ranked 441-647th within Illinois.

Both schools, Effingham County High School and South Effingham High School provide a number of advanced placement classes that offer college entry instruction to students , as well as an opportunity for them to earn college credit during their high school careers.

Effingham College & Career Academy

Effingham College & Career Academy (ECCA) opened in fall 2010, as one of Georgia’s first college and career academies. In 2008, the Effingham County Board of Education applied for and received a $3.2 million grant from the State of Georgia, which was administered through the Technical College System of Georgia.

The new facility encompassed 44,034 square feet of state-of-the-art Career, Technical, Agricultural Education (CTAE) classrooms, and labs. The costs of the building project were paid in full by the $3.2 million grant and ESPLOST funds upon its opening in fall 2010.  

The building was one of the first Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) Gold Certified buildings in Coastal Georgia. The facility grew with a 47,000 square feet Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) addition that opened in fall 2016.

On August 2016, Effingham County School district launched its new STEM Academy at the Effingham College and Career Academy.

About the STEM Academy

The objective of STEM Academy is to provide students with real world applications in the area of Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics.

Although programs have changed over the years, ECCA has stayed true to its goal of offering world-class education to the students who choose to attend this facility.

Admission into Effingham County Schools

The registration centre of Effingham Country Schools, 306 N Ash St in Springfield, Georgia opens from Monday to Friday between 8:30am – 4:30pm.

At Central Registration, new students seeking admission into Effingham County Schools and those who have been off the roll for 10+ consecutive days are registered.

However, students transferring from one Effingham County School to another without missing 10+ consecutive days, may report to the new school without going through Central Registration.

Effingham Country Schools conduct registration by asking  Parents/applicants to complete an online application and upload documents either directly to the application, or using the CRC Documents Upload Form.

If there is need to drop off paperwork, it can be done by sending a mail to the  Central Registration via registration@effingham.k12.ga.us for an appointment.

Effingham County Schools are tuition-free, publicly funded schools that are legally required to accept and provide an education to all children from Kindergarten age through Grade 12 in Effingham County, GA.

The Unit 40 Mentor Program awarded it’s first ever scholarship in May 2018, to a deserving Effingham High School graduate, who participated in the Mentor Program by continuing to meet with a mentor through out their high school years.

This student had to apply for the scholarship, participate in an interview, and meet certain qualifications in order to be eligible.
